Message from the Chair of the Australian UNESCO Education Network, May 2004

As Chair of the UNESCO Australian National Commission’s Education Network, I am very pleased to have this opportunity to welcome you to the Teachers of the Future Initiative (TOFI) website. The Teachers of the Future Initiative was developed as part of the Education Network Strategic Plan for 2003 -2005 and aims to support UNESCO priorities in education. |
The initiative is designed to facilitate sharing and exchange of information, expertise and resources between Australia and other countries in the Pacific region, at all levels of schooling, further education and training.
The longer-term goal of Teachers of the Future Initiative is to build a capacity for ongoing professional networking and the development of sustainable, collaborative partnerships in the region.
The UNESCO Education Network wishes to extend its gratitude to the TOFI Think Tank participants and the partner organisations, myinternet, Everyday Interactive Networks, educationau.Ltd, Victorian Education Channel, Five Fish Education and the Catholic Education Office Melbourne for the generous commitment of time and expertise necessary in maintaining this initiative.
The TOFI website provides an exciting opportunity for educators in all Pacific countries to learn from each other and to contribute to enhanced educational outcomes for themselves, as well as for colleagues and students, locally and regionally.
This is an initiative that will continue to be shaped over time by the educational priorities and interests, knowledge and skills, energy and commitment that is contributed by participating educators.
I wholeheartedly encourage you to join the Pacific Albatross Network (PAN) and tap into the wealth of regional expertise and resources that will be developed and shared well into the future.
