Reflections May 2005 We are handing on to our young people a turbulent world with many challenges and insecurities. Their life will not be easy but it will be rewarding if we keep our youth programmes strong, and engage young people as equal partners, seeing them not as the problem but as part of the solution. For in the heart and mind of every young person is a desire to make a difference, to contribute to and be part of a vision. We must provide that vision. Professor Kenneth Wiltshire AO July 11, 2004 Javier Perez De Cuellar, Secretary-General of the United Nations, September, 1986 May 17, 2004 "We have come to realise that it is not enough to send peacekeeping forces to separate warring parties, or to engage in peace-building efforts after conflict has taken place. It is not even enough to conduct preventative diplomacy. We need to act at a deeper level for the prevention of violent conflicts before they arise. We need in short, a culture of peace." Kofi Annan, Secretary-General of the United Nations
